Hamburg Airport is experiencing a disruption in kerosene supply, though flight operations remain stable for the time being. The airport operator reported on Thursday that airlines and their suppliers are currently unable to ensure fuel deliveries as usual, citing an "unforeseen kerosene supply shortage" at a refinery in Heide, Schleswig-Holstein.

“The flight operations are currently still stable,” the operator said, but warned that delays or schedule changes could occur in the coming days. No detailed information was available regarding the cause, scope, or expected duration of the shortage.

The airport emphasized that fuel supply is not part of its responsibilities. It only provides areas for fuel storage and is itself “affected by the situation,” the Hamburg Airport GmbH explained, adding that the disruption also causes economic damage to the airport.

Airlines and their contracted partners are reportedly “working intensively on a solution,” the airport stated. Passengers are advised to monitor their flight status and to contact their airline in case of cancellations or rescheduling.

According to the airport, kerosene deliveries are handled at Hamburg Airport by AFS, which manages storage tanks and fuel supply at 14 airports in Germany and Austria, including Frankfurt and Munich. AFS collaborates with oil companies and airlines. The unforeseen kerosene shortage at Hamburg Airport was first reported on Thursday by the industry service AeroTelegraph.
