Berlin Brandenburg Airport is currently experiencing longer waiting times at check-in counters. The airport reported on Saturday morning that a “technical malfunction at a system provider used across Europe” was the cause. Numerous flights have been delayed as a result. Airports in Frankfurt, Hamburg, Munich, and Düsseldorf reported no operational issues.
However, airports in Brussels and London appear to have been affected. The Belgian capital’s airport described a “cyberattack” that occurred Friday evening, which disrupted check-in and boarding systems. Currently, passengers can only check in manually at the counters.
London’s Heathrow Airport cited “a technical problem” at Collins Aerospace, “which provides check-in and boarding systems for multiple airlines at numerous airports worldwide,” as the reason for current delays.
The company confirmed the issues. “We are actively working to resolve the problem and restore full functionality for our customers as quickly as possible,” Collins Aerospace stated. “The impact is limited to electronic passenger check-in and baggage drop. Manual processing, however, is functioning.”
