After two stabbing attacks near a hospital in Heide, Schleswig-Holstein, police have launched an investigation into attempted murder, among other charges. According to a statement released by police in Itzehoe on Monday, a woman was seriously injured and a man suffered minor injuries in the attacks by an unknown assailant on Sunday and Monday. Search efforts have been unsuccessful. The motives behind the attacks are still unclear.
According to police, the unknown male suspect first attacked a 40-year-old woman with a sharp object on Sunday morning near the hospital in Heide. She was seriously injured but her life was not in danger. On Monday morning, a man slightly injured a 45-year-old man with a sharp object in a similar attack in front of the hospital. He was then treated as an outpatient at the clinic.
Officials said a connection between the two incidents was “assumed.” Witnesses were asked to come forward with any information. The investigation is being conducted on suspicion of attempted murder and grievous bodily harm.
