One year after the federal government took office, Chancellor Friedrich Merz (CDU) no longer occupies the last place in INSA's politician ranking. According to the survey published on Tuesday on behalf of "Bild" newspaper, Union parliamentary group leader Jens Spahn (CDU) now sits in 20th place with an approval rating of 2.8, behind Merz, who comes in 19th place with 2.9 points. With Economy Minister Katherina Reiche in 18th place (3.1 points), another CDU member ranks among the bottom positions.
Defense Minister Boris Pistorius (SPD) continues to clearly hold first place in the ranking with an approval rating of 5.1. The likely next Minister President of Baden-Württemberg, Cem Özdemir of the Greens, takes second place with 4.2 points, followed by North Rhine-Westphalia's Minister President Hendrik Wüst (CDU, 4.0) and CSU leader Markus Söder (4.0).
Bundestag President Julia Klöckner (CDU) improved from seventh place to fifth place (3.8), while FDP politician Wolfgang Kubicki, who is running for his party's leadership, lost one place and landed in sixth place among the most popular politicians.
Alice Weidel in seventh place (3.7 points) is the most popular AfD politician, while BSW founder Sahra Wagenknecht occupies eighth place (3.7). The winner of the week is Left Party parliamentary leader Heidi Reichinnek, who jumped from 16th place to 12th place (3.5 points) - one spot behind SPD leader Lars Klingbeil. The Vice Chancellor sits at 3.5 points, three places ahead of SPD party leader and Labor Minister Bärbel Bas (3.4 points).
In the Sunday question, the AfD continues to lead with 27.5 percent, with slight losses (minus 0.5). The Union follows with 24.0 percent (plus 0.5). Significantly behind is the SPD with 13.5 percent (minus 0.5), just ahead of the Greens with 13.0 percent (plus 0.5). The Left comes in at 10.5 percent (minus 0.5). The BSW and FDP remain below the five percent threshold.
