Iran attacked US military bases in Qatar and Iraq with missiles under the "Promise of Victory" operation, responding to recent US strikes on Iranian nuclear sites. Qatar’s air defenses intercepted the missiles, and no casualties were reported. The attacks further escalate tensions amid ongoing conflict between Iran, Israel, and the US.

According to the Iranian state news agency IRNA, Iran has attacked US bases in Qatar and Iraq with missiles. The military operation was dubbed "Promise of Victory," IRNA reported on Monday. Iranian state television called the attacks a "fierce" response to US "aggression." Explosions were heard in Qatar's capital, Doha, and in Lusail, according to an AFP reporter.

The US airbase Al-Udeid, the largest in the Middle East, is located in Qatar. The Iranian missile attack on the base was "successfully intercepted" by Qatari air defenses, the Qatari Ministry of Defense announced. There were no deaths or injuries.

A spokesperson for the Qatari Foreign Ministry condemned the Iranian attacks, calling them a "shameless violation of Qatar's sovereignty and airspace, as well as international law."

Qatar had previously taken several "precautionary measures," including closing its airspace. The US Embassy in Qatar had advised US citizens in the country to stay home.

Israel launched a major attack on Iran on June 13 and has since bombed nuclear facilities and military installations in the country. Iran has since retaliated by attacking Israel with missiles and drones. The United States entered the war between Israel and Iran on Sunday night and attacked the Iranian nuclear facilities in Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan with B-2 fighter jets and bunker-busting GBU-57 bombs. Western states have accused Iran of seeking nuclear weapons for years, a claim Tehran denies.
