Five suspects were arrested in Berlin on Monday on suspicion of document forgery in connection with falsified language certificates. They were to be brought before an investigating judge later that day, as announced jointly by police and prosecutors in the capital.
Furthermore, 14 apartments in Berlin were searched in the early morning hours. Among other things, certificates, printers, data storage devices and a five-figure sum of cash were seized.
According to reports, the investigation is targeting a total of ten suspects. The men, aged between 22 and 32, are alleged to have illegally traded language certificates nationwide from their base in Berlin. The business was advertised via social media.
