A 16-year-old has died in an accident involving an e-scooter on Erich-Netzeband-Straße in Wolfsburg-Fallersleben. According to police in the Lower Saxony city on Sunday, the teenager was riding the scooter. The exact circumstances of the accident are still under investigation, according to police. Many details remain unclear. The lifeless body of the 16-year-old was discovered by a witness in bushes beside a road on Sunday, with the heavily damaged electric scooter lying "some distance away," according to police officials.
In addition, skid marks indicated another party involved in the accident, they said. The night before, there had reportedly been a car accident nearby that was documented by the police.
According to current findings, a 21-year-old driver had left the road in a curve and collided with a curb, a streetlight, and an e-scooter, police reported. At the time of the accident investigation, there were no indications that anyone might have been on the scooter. The driver, according to a breathalyzer test, was sober and was taken to a hospital with minor injuries.
